Taps Across America
Updated: May 28
Memorial Day celebrations across the U.S. looked different this year, with most picnics, parades, and services canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. That's why CBS News "On the Road" correspondent Steve Hartman teamed up with retired Air Force bugler Jari Villanueva to keep the spirit of the holiday alive. The goal was for veterans, musicians, teachers, and students of all abilities and ages to sound Taps on their front lawns, porches, and driveways at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th.
Eight musicians from NHBCOS participated in this tribute. Even though we were separated by distance, we joined together to pay honor to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you to my fellow brass players Corat Moran, Eva Husted, Jeff Ader, Jim Keuning, Jim Mesite, Sunny Kurth and Wayne Griffin - all of whom practiced social distancing at its finest for this worthy cause.
