All Autumn Rehearsals & Events Canceled

After conducting an all-member survey last month, the FNHBCOS Board of Directors decided that it was in the best interest of all members and conductors to cancel the rehearsals for the 2020 Fall Semester. Our decision was only partially based on responses from the survey; we also considered the status of the Prince of Peace Church where we rehearse, the statistics and direct input from the El Paso County Health Department and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and information contained in numerous studies we read regarding the risks and transmission of COVID-19 in an indoor environment with a large group of people playing instruments. The Board made this decision because none of us could justify the cost if only one member or conductor turned seriously ill (or worse) due to gathering indoors with several people to have fun making music. Better we all live to play another day. We are already looking at options and alternatives for the 2021 Spring Semester. We will be meeting with the conductors for their input. We will be talking with other New Horizons Music groups from around the world to hear what they are doing or not doing that works for them.
