Getting to know you...Tedi Lojewski

  1. Name? Were you named after anyone? Tedi. You would think with such a different name, that I was named after someone (I was not). My mother wanted something unique for her only daughter, and she made up the spelling.

  2. Where are you from? Farmington, Michigan

  3. What band are you in? Symphonic Band - in the awesome Horn section

  4. Do you play in more than one musical group? Not currently.

  5. What did you want to be when you were a kid? I thought I wanted to be a nurse, until I discovered I didn't like the sight of blood! Instead I chose a career in health administration.

  6. Do you have kids? Four adult sons, all whom love the outdoors (two in Alaska, two in Colorado), three also play brass instruments.

  7. Do you play more than one instrument? In addition to the French Horn, I occasionally play trumpet in church and have recently taken up hand bells.

  8. What is your favorite dessert? Plain old vanilla ice cream.

  9. What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy the beautiful Colorado outdoors, traveling, hiking and camping with my husband of 36 years. We also have recently taken up bicycle touring, and enjoyed a 5-day, 200 mile trek across the Katy Trail in Missouri this past fall. We enjoy going to new places and delving into the history and culture of the area.

  10. What is or was your career? I am a health information management administrator with a degree from Indiana University. I currently am a compliance auditor, and help my clients comply with the myriad of healthcare regulations.

  11. What is your favorite type of music? I listen to everything from classical and Baroque to rock and roll and contemporary Christian music. If you want to hear some fantastic French Horn playing with a modern twist, check out a group called Gengis Barbie.

  12. How did you get involved in music? I started singing in the church youth choir when I was 5 years old. In an effort to keep up with my older brothers (both played brass instruments), I took up cornet when I was in the fifth grade and switched to French Horn a year later.

  13. What is your favorite Summer activity? Traveling to Alaska to see my grandchildren!

  14. Have you ever been to a different country? When I was 17 I traveled to Denmark, Sweden, northern Germany, and the Netherlands with a youth symphony. We were privileged to stay with host families along the journey and enjoy the countries from their perspective. We learned a lot of history and visited a lot of castles! Having grown up in Michigan, also spent many summers fishing in Canada.

  15. Describe yourself in 3 words... Dynamic, shy, resilient
